Who grants the right to sell

The creator, through what their membership or tier says. Thangs hosts it and takes the payment, but the designer decides what you get for your money and writes that into the offer. It usually covers everything published behind it, rather than being set model by model.

Where to find it

This section is about the platform's web pages, not its terms, so the terms can't confirm it. We haven't checked it against the live site recently, so treat it as a starting point and check the site yourself.

  • The individual designer's membership or offering page. That is where a commercial license is bought on Thangs, not from Thangs itself.
  • The model page for whatever the designer has stated about their own terms.
  • Your subscription: check whether what you are paying for is the site-wide download bundle or a specific designer's membership. They are different purchases and only one of them is about selling.

What the labels mean

Thangs Bundle
A download subscription, capped at a number of downloads a week. It gives you access to files, not permission to sell prints of them. The terms say so directly.
A designer's membership
Where a commercial license actually comes from on this platform. It is that designer's offer, on their conditions, and it covers their work rather than the catalog.

Worth knowing

  • Watch out for this one. The terms say plainly that paying for the Thangs Bundle gets you downloads and no commercial rights. It is easy to assume it lets you sell prints, and it doesn't.
  • Because permission comes from a membership, it works like Patreon, not like a one-off purchase. If you stop paying, your permission to sell will very likely stop too. Ask the designer what happens to prints already made.

What to keep

Terms change, and in a dispute what counts is what you agreed to on the day. Save a copy when you buy, not when someone asks for it.

  • The membership's description as it read on the day you joined, and each time it changes.
  • Receipts showing which months the membership covered, since permission here follows the subscription.
  • The designer's name and the model, so a record points at one specific undertaking rather than at Thangs.

The authority

This page describes how licensing works here in our own words. It is not a statement of what you are permitted to do, and it does not reproduce anyone's terms. Read the Thangs terms

Thangs' terms and conditions carry no visible last-updated date, so there is no document version to quote here — only the date we last read it.

Licensing confirmed against the platform's own terms on 12 Sept 2026.
